SOCIAL
INNOVATION LABS
Social Innovation Labs are recurring collaborative spaces where social innovations move across the European Network for Innovation for Inclusion. In each Lab, a Spanish organisation transfers a social innovation to two European organisations, while a European organisation transfers an innovation to three Spanish organisations, which replicate, adapt and scale these solutions within their own contexts. This dynamic exchange enables social innovations to circulate, grow and generate impact across diverse territories.
WHAT ARE OUR SOCIAL INNOVATION LABS?
Social innovations labs are structured into cycles. In each cycle, multiple transfer and replication processes are initiated and supported between organisations in Spain and organisations in other European countries, in both directions. In this Social Innovation Labs cycles, social innovations are transferred, adapted, piloted and scaled in new contexts. Steps of the process per cycle are:
- Identifying shared social challenges across Europe
- Listening sessions about the identified social challenges
- Selecting the social challenge to be addressed in the cycle
- Identifying and selecting social innovations for transfer and scaling
- Selecting replicant organisations
- Adapting, piloting and scaling the transferred social innovations
It is the process of dialogue between the transferring entity and the replicants in which the former transfers to the latter all the necessary information so that the replicants can launch the pilot.
It is the process of designing and implementing a pilot. The process focuses on how replicants decide how to incorporate social innovation into their programmes and implement it through a pilot project.
Replicating organisations design the innovation within their programmes, adapting it to their local reality.
It is the test project that emerges from the replication process. Replicating organizations implement the designed pilot according to the adaptation to their local reality and organization feasibility.
Replicating organisations work to extend and strengthen the innovation in their context. The European Network of Innovation for Inclusion accompanies the scaling process and shares good practices, while the transferring organisation offers strategic guidance when needed.
